Warning: Avoid Helium Balloons When Proposing with a Diamond Engagement Ring!

This one goes out to the men attempting to propose to their girlfriends in an original, eccentric way. Better safe than sorry!

Lefkos Haji, a 28 year-old floor-fitter from London, was planning on getting engaged to his long-time girlfriend, 26 year-old Leanne. He'd already picked out the perfect diamond engagement ring and was prepared to get down on one knee to as for her hand.

He had it all planned out: he was going to place the $12,000 diamond engagement ring in a helium balloon and present the floating contraption to his beloved upon his proposal. He had imagined how the expression of disappointment at being given such an inexpensive, insignificant token would slide right off of her face as she popped the balloon (as per his instruction of course) only to discover the sparkling, dazzling diamond ring inside. “I thought I would give Leanne a pin so I could literally pop the question,” Haji told the London Sun newspaper.

Alas, poor Haji’s plans turned to naught as he left the jewelry shop, balloon containing ring in hand, a gust of wind blew by, ripping the balloon from his hands and carried it away ($12,000 ring included). “I just watched as it went further and further into the air”.

As a result, Haji proceeded to spend two hours while in his car trying to chase down the renegade balloon. Haji felt he had to tell his girlfriend about the lost ring, “…she went absolutely mad. Now she is refusing to speak to me until I get her a new ring.” “I am still hoping the ring will turn up” he admitted to the reporter, “It would be amazing if someone found it.”

It just hurts to hear stories like this, don't it?!  Men, forget about your hats: hold on to the jewelry!!!!
