A shallow cut diamond is a stone that wasn't cut as deeply as it should have been. A shallow cut diamond can appear larger than smaller sized stones proportionally cut, however, its brilliance is thus diminished. Light shining on the diamond goes out its back instead of bouncing off of the stone's sides.
