What is the lower girdle facet length of a diamond?

What significant does lower girdle facet length have? Is it and important parameter of a diamond's cut?

Lower girdle facet length can be measured in three ways: By measuring it vertically, horizontally or measuring length difference between the lower girdle facet and the pavilion's principle facet.

The vertical measurement is basically measuring the height of the girdle facet length (when the diamond is in straight position, table at the top), measuring the height of the pavilions main facet and dividing the former with the latter, resulting in the lower girdle facet length percentage. In the horizontal measurement an imaginary line is created between the lower girdle facet bottom, parallel to the girdle, until the girdle's outer edge. Another imaginary horizontal line is drawn between the culet and the girdle outer edge. Dividing the former with the latter results in the lower girdle facet horizontal length.

A lower girdle facet is a facet underneath the girdle of a diamond (the line between the crown and the pavilion in a round diamond). These facets are of triangle shape, with its shortest side on the girdle. Lower girdle facet length usually means the ratio between the lower girdle facet length and the pavilion main facet length (which is a long facet, between the girdle and the diamond's culet).
