I'm a 45 year old mother of three and I've always been pretty conservative regarding my style. I barely ever wear jewelry, and if I do, it's always something plain and subtle, if not boring. But, I decided that the time has come for me to be more adventurous with my dress. The question is, is fashion jewelry just for teens? Will I look ridiculous?

First of all, Kudos to you for making the decision to change something in your life that seems to have been bothering you. It's no easy task to change your style, especially when you are no longer young. However, it can definitely be done. The time has come for you to make yourself over. How exciting. Second of all, fashion jewelry is NOT only for teenager. I mean, look at the celebrity news. How many celebrity teens do you see making headlines with their jewelry? Not may. Most of the red-carpet trend-setters are wearing seriously flashy jewelry at 40, 50, and even 60 years old. Fashion jewelry is for everyone. That's what makes it to awesome! So, here's my advice: I think the best thing for you to do would be to ease into new, fun, trendy jewelry. Go with one of your kids or one of your girlfriends to a fashion jewelry store that has lots of cheap stuff, like Claire's. If that makes you too uncomfortable, then just head to the jewelry department of your local department store and ask for fashion jewelry. Then you won't feel like a fish out of water. Then pick out nice, conservative pieces that make you feel comfortable. After you take the first step of buying and wearing pieces that aren't too loud, or too "alternative", then you can start mixing and matching new and exciting pieces that feature color and exciting new designs. I wish you the best of luck. Happy accessorizing!
