Can you tell, just by looking, that fashion jewelry is fake?

I have a big party to go to and I want to this particular piece of fashion jewelry but I'm afraid that people will know it's not real.

I think that most people do not have a very fine eye when it comes to jewelry, and I also think that most of the fashion pieces people wear are not made from real gold, silver, and diamonds. Fashion pieces come and go because they are created to be fashionable, not timeless. I think that it is smart not to purchase ‘real’ fashion jewelry anyway, because in a year or two it will be out of style any way! However, there are also differences in the quality of these pieces, for example, pieces bought at a teen store or a dollar store will likely appear less ‘real’ to even the untrained eye, than pieces bought at a department store, or jewelry boutique. Confidence will probably be the best accessory you can add to your fashion jewelry because if you are feeling confident people will sense it and it will automatically make your outfit appear much trendier. Confidence is always in style!!

I think that the majority of people can't tell that its fake. Unless the piece is really cheap looking. Unless they are in the jewelry business, I don't believe people that say they can tell.

What do you mean by fake? like the stones aren't real? the diamonds, etc? hmmm... Probably not, since cubic zirconia is so interchangeable with diamonds in terms of its appearance.

Yes, I can tell the difference. Probably because I've been around it for so long. I work on the jewelry business and have seen both real and fake fashion jewelry. Probably to the average joe it's not that differentiable, though.

It really depends on the piece of fashion jewelry and how it was made. True, there are pieces of fashion jewelry that just don't look good - obvious the naked eye. But today there are more and more designers creating beautiful and very realistic pieces that look like diamonds or precious stones. If you think your fashion jewelry looks good then I say good for it! Have a good time!
