Is a heart shaped diamond a cheesy gift for Valentine's day?

I don't want to get jewelry that's too predictable. Is a diamond shaped pendant too obvious, or too tacky a present to give on Valentine's Day? Should I go for something else? I really want to get her diamond jewelry.

I wouldn't say so, no. Heart-cut diamonds are extremely beautiful and sought-after. True that it may be a bit too obvious a diamond shape to pick for a Valentine's day gift but if you love that particular  diamond shape then you shouldn't care if other people think that's its cheesy.

If you want my honest opinion, then I have to say that YES – it is very cheesy! If you are willing to invest in an expensive diamond present for your girlfriend/wife, I would suggest getting her something that she'll be happy to wear every day. Let's be honest, who wears a heart necklace other than little girls? It's a bit childish, don't you think? I think it will be much better to put your money into something different that will be practical after Valentine's Day itself. If I were you, I would buy your girlfriend/wife a more standard shape of a diamond, such as round or princess cut, for a timeless fashion statement. I'm sure she'll find that kind of diamond jewelry gift much more practical and enjoyable.

It's not a cheesy gift at all! The heart shaped diamond is very complex when it comes to cutting and polishing a diamond. Buying such a diamond is actually a great and generous Valentine's gift. For an engagement ring I would say that a heart diamond is a bit childish and corny, but for Valentine's it's perfect.
