Cubic zirconium stones are a good alternative to diamonds, they're affordable and have a nice look to them. In addition, you could opt to buy her jewelry set with her birthstone (assuming that her birthstone isn't a precious gemstone). You could even consider buying her jewelry that doesn't contain precious metals. Instead of buying gold, silver or platinum jewelry you could opt for silver or surgical steel jewelry.
