Vintage jewelry vs. modern jewelry? What makes for a better birthday gift?

My best girl-friend's 30th birthday is coming up and I want to get her something extra special. I decided on jewelry since she loves fashion and accessories, but that doesn't really narrow it down much. Any tips?

There's nothing more fashionable than a vintage looking diamond  ring, trust me. Let's face it, diamonds last forever, their beauty is a consensus through decades and centuries and so is the diamond jewelry style. A girl wears a diamond not because she wants to look chic and up to beat, but rather because she wants to feel like a princess. Not a 21th century princess, but rather a fairytale princess, that is why diamonds are always in fashion and vintage diamond jewelry always looks beautiful. Luckily, this fashion is an everlasting one. When I wear my cushion cut vintage diamond ring I feel so classy, I'm sure that my future generations will also know to appreciate the beauty of this diamond ring.

Vintage jewelry can be quite unique and intimate. If you are looking for silver-white colored metals, then most vintage or period jewelry is set with these types of metals (platinum, white gold etc,). Vintage diamond jewelry is highly treasured by antique collectors and aficionados. However, vintage jewelry isn't for everyone. Some women prefer a more modern look when it comes to their diamond jewelry, since vintage diamond jewelry may often appear dramatic or over the top. Women who prefer more demure, modest jewelry may opt for the more modern choice of diamond jewelry. In addition, modern jewelry is by far more accessible to the common buyer, thus it is often times more affordable.
