Can I buy a diamond ring for a two-year old?

I know it doesn't seem like to most moral maternal deed, but there's a jewelry designer stores which has some very cute children's jewelry, including even diamond rings, one which would look adorable on my little girl. I'm not wondering whether you think it's stylish or educational, but rather whether there might be any health risks in having my sunshine wear a diamond ring.

Aside from the health hazards mentioned in the answers above, I think it makes much more sense to save giving your child a diamond ring, such a symbolic and expensive gift for when he or she is old enough to appreciate it. Not that diamond rings are engagement rings only, but in my opinion, diamond rings should come to commemorate special occasions, like graduations, holidays, etc. Currently, the most popular type of baby jewelry is the charm bracelet, so you might want to opt for that if you're looking to adorn your child in expensive jewelry at this early stage.

I definitely would not recommend getting a baby a diamond ring, since babies are known for sticking their fingers in their mouths non-stop. It wouldn't take much for the diamond ring to slip off their finger and pose a serious choking hazard. Also, a two year old child's fingers are so tiny, the diamond ring could easily slip off and get lost. You are much better off looking for a special baby bracelet or anklet for the baby, and making sure it's made from quality materials that won't cause an allergic reaction. You might even want to consult a pediatrician before you purchase a diamond ring (or any jewelry for that matter) for such a young child.

Since the value of diamonds won't diminish over the years, it's not a bad idea to buy her the diamond now to wear when she is older. Obviously it's not a great idea to give her a diamond to wear now, as it may get lost or risk her health, but it could be a great investment for her future.

It is not recommended to buy diamond rings for children under the age of three since there is a high risk of swallowing and choking. Earrings, bracelets, and pendants, however, are considered safe as long as they are made of hypoallergenic metals and feature smooth edges, and safety backs. If you are interested in buying diamond jewelry for a baby, make sure you buy from a child/baby jewelry retailer who can certify that the pieces of diamond jewelry are safe.

i basically said the same thing about the question about the baby. i guess a two year old is a little bit more responsible than a baby when it comes to putting things in his or her mouth... but a diamond ring is such a small piece of jewelry that in a moment's notice, you can find yourself taking your two year old to the hospital because your kid swallowed the ring. is that really what you want to do on a saturday afternoon? take your kid to the doctor and then have to explain to the doctor that the reason you are there is because you took money out of your pocket to buy your kid a diamond ring, gave it to the kid, the kid swallowed it, and now you are the irresponsible parent taking your kid to the emergency room? that is really one of the most ridiculous things i have ever heard!
