I've seen fabric necklaces with fabric beads and fabric pom poms all over the place. I think they are super cute. Does anyone know how you make them?

Another easy way to make a fabric necklace is to make fabric balls. Take Styrofoam balls of whatever size you want (these can be easily found at any art store, and simply glue cool looking fabric onto them. You can then string them together with a needle and thread and mix and intersperse real beads with them too. I like the look of necklaces like this hanging from ribbon, but you can also hang them from a chain. If you are hanging them from a chain, secure the chain to the sides of the two end cloth-covered-styrofoam balls with lots of glue so that they won't break.

To make a fabric beaded necklace you don't need glue or styrofoam. you can actually do it just with fabric and knots and wood beads, marbles, or any other round things you find that could pass for beads that are all the same size. Just create a long strip of fabric, sew it into a tube according to the diameter of the beads , knot the fabric, then insert bead, knot, then insert bead, and repeat till you get the end. It looks great and it's super easy to do!

I can tell you from experience that some are harder to make than others and for all of them you need a bit of patience and an open mind. The fabric necklace that is the easiest to make looks a bit like a long scrunchy of cloth that hangs from ribbon or shoelace. To make a necklace like this you will need 1) a strong needle and tough thread 2) lots of scrap cloth of different colors 3) two pieces of ribbon or shoelace or something similar. Cut out a pattern of an 8, or what looks like two circles joined together. You want to be able to fold the 8-shaped fabric in two so that it looks like a sandwich in the shape of a circle. Then use that template to trace loads of pieces of cloth. Stack four 8-shaped pieces of cloth together to make a sandwich. Repeat this until you feel you have a number of sandwiches that you think will make a nice length necklace. Then make two end-sandwiches. An end sandwich is only two pieces of 8 placed back to back and folded to look like circles. These pieces will be the ends of the cloth that connect to the ribbon. Thread the needle and string through the first end sandwich and then through all the following sandwiches till you get to the other end. Then tie off the string. Then take your ribbon or shoelace or what have you and sew each piece to the center of each end. And voila. You have a fabric necklace!
