If I'm traveling, how can I bring my precious jewelry with me and also keep it safe?

Are there jewelry boxes for travelers with fine, expensive jewelry?

There are actually a number of expertly crafted jewelry boxes/cases out there specially made for travelers carrying diamond jewelry, pearl jewelry or even gemstone jewelery. These jewelry boxes come in various shapes and sizes depending on how much jewelry you are bringing with you and how secure you want your jewelry to be. Some look like small boxes that you can carry around with you. These are usually padded on the outside with leather or cloth and feature a comfortable handle. Many of these cases feature pad-locks to ensure that your jewelry is safe- this way box can't accidentally open and spill your jewelry out, and is also well protected from thieves and pick-pockets. They are also specially designed to protect your fine precious stones and metals from scratches, scrapes and any other damage that your jewelry might incur during your travels. It is important that you make sure that your jewelry is stored in separate compartments, especially if you are bringing diamond, pearl or gemstone jewelry. Diamonds can easily scratch other items, as can many hard gemstones, and pearls are extremely delicate as are many soft gemstones. Other boxes, which are less spacious, resemble large wallets or purses. These are convenient for weekend or overnight trips. They carry less jewelry, take up less space in your luggage, but also offer less protection.

I always think that the best travel jewelry cases are actually made by the best luggage and bag or specialty jewelery box manufacturers/retailers rather than jewelry manufacturers/retailers.

You might also place your jewelry in leather-lined cases. Some boxes can snap shut, others roll-up. They include small zipper pouches and snap-close pockets that you can place your earrings and necklaces safely together. However, you should never over-pack them since that could cause your pieces to scratch against one another which could potentially cause damage.
