I like unique jewelry with a twist, what is there out there for me?

I don't know about jewelry, but I saw an amazing bag for HOLDING the jewelry which is made out of quilted candy wrappers. I know all this stuff sounds strange, but honestly, it was as designer-looking as anything I've ever bought! I can't begin to describe how cool it is...it almost looks like an oragami bag, or something new by LeSportSac...but it's made completely out of candy wrappers!!!! Beautiful. Anyway, I'm sure you can find so many great things out there if you just look around and decide what it is you want. Just do a big search of the web and see what comes up!

My sister just got the most beautiful set of earings...and your question made me think of them right away. They look like little feather-snowflake clusters...they are made up of many individually fashioned clear feathers that come together to create a snowflake look...and they are made completely out of water bottle!!!!! It's not a weird/alternative look, either...it's really just so cool that something so beautiful can be made out of something you have lying around the house...and you could never make them yourself. That\s what I like about the new lines of eco-friendly jewelry, because they aren't like arts and crafts...they are high-end and the designers use the alternative material just like the would any material, with skill and creativity. It makes the purchase so completely worthwhile.

I buy from a company called greenKarat which produces gorgeous jewelry using ecologically sustainable methods. I saw somebody mention this before and I know they're absolutely right when they say it's awesome cause I've seen it around as well: coin jewelry. Coins are really pretty if you give them a nice polish - usually a mild dish detergent in a bowl of warm water will make coins shiny and pretty. We don't think about this, but the silver used in coins is ... the same precious metal we buy in our jewelry, so it's a really pretty look, and if you make or buy yourself a pair of earrings that are basically made out of a shiny half-cent from the 19th century or a silver dollar - how cool is that?
