Is it true that yellow gold diamond engagement rings are out of style?

Yellow gold diamond engagement rings were pretty much the standard in engagement rings for decades. My grandmother had one, and my mother had one too. But now my girlfriends are getting engaged one by one, and not a SINGLE one of them has a yellow gold diamond ring. What's the deal, yo? Are they totally out of style?

It is true that engagement rings were traditionally set in yellow gold, however that does not mean that yellow gold engagement rings are in anyways outdated or old-fashioned. Yellow gold engagement rings are timeless, elegant and graceful. The warm hued precious metal makes the engagement ring all the more stunning. Yellow gold engagement rings are still relevant and current. Also, yellow gold engagement rings don't have to be dated in design, they can be made to look youthful by adding another tone of metal to the band, engraving the band with trendy, intricate patterns or setting the band with colorful precious gemstones.

In no way are yellow gold diamond engagement rings out of style. In fact, many women prefer the traditional, classy look of a yellow gold solitaire diamond engagement ring. The reason why white gold, platinum and other silvery-white colored metals are so popular right now has mainly to do with the versatility of the silvery hue. Silvery-white metals can be set with any color gemstone without having the metal's hue and the gemstone's tinge clash. However, I personally think that the golden hues add a little something extra to an engagement ring. To me, yellow gold engagement rings look luxurious and elegant, there's something special and nostalgic about yellow gold engagement rings.

This is certainly a myth. There is no such thing as out of style when it comes to gold, or diamond engagement rings. I've seen beautiful yellow gold diamond engagement rings, and terrible ones. I've seen fashionable and trendy diamond engagements with various metals, various diamonds, of various cuts, and sometimes with various other gemstones embedded in them. The raw materials in jewelry never go out of style. It all comes down to how you decide to put them together. I say that if you have a specific look in mind, and you're worried about being stylish or fashionable, then stop worrying. Your engagement ring should be for YOU so if you want a yellow gold diamond engagement ring, that's exactly what you should get. Remember, you'll be wearing this engagement ring forever, but styles and fads are NEVER forever. So forget the fashionistas and follow your heart.

I don't know what the general consensus is, but let's just say that I wouldn't wear a yellow gold diamond engagement ring and I know for sure that none of my friends have yellow gold diamond engagement rings either, or yellow gold jewelry in general. In fact, I don't think I've seen anyone under the age of 40 sporting a yellow gold engagement ring. I mean, when white gold looks so much better, younger and hipper – why would anyone want to stick with something so outdated as yellow gold jewelry?

White gold diamond engagement rings bring out the brightness of the diamonds, providing white diamonds with the perfect setting. I think yellow gold just seems to steal the attention from the diamond in an engagement ring – and we all want to show off our diamond don't we?
