I am a guy who likes wearing men's bracelets. Other than bracelets I don't wear any kind of jewelry, but for some reason I really enjoy wearing them. Recently, my new girlfriend made a remark, hinting that girls aren't really fond of men's bracelets. I don't intend on changing my style just because of women's taste, but I do want to know (this question is directed towards the ladies in the audience): Are men's bracelets cool or pathetic?

I find it funny that girl are saying no to this question saying 'Call me a traditionalist' and ya ya kind of stuff but to be blunt the most powerful men in history wore these and they weren't leather they were gold. Thumb rings were for archers and very high ranking military commanders. Bracelets were to show that you were beyond physical attack because of your following (Hence why people wanting to look gangsta wear them to say 'You can't touch me' and so on and so forth) Ultimately its not about what you wear to attract or keep a woman its about who you are and what you do. If you like gold or silver or leather then go for it! The toughest men in history had no issue with society thinking ill of them in this way. Its a shame really that society is attacking old rituals in this way. I hear thumb rings are classed as gay these days. Poor poor welsh bowman that won us so many battles.

Some of the coolest guys around wear bracelets. I saw Alton Brown wearing a leather & silver bracelet next to his wrist watch on his show. They did a couple close-ups of him chopping vegetables, and there it was. I was like, "whoa, that's cool. It looks like something from Star Wars." Johnny Depp has a whole bunch of bracelets, including one with little plastic hearts that his daughter made for him. Matt Damon, Justin Timberlake, Eminem and David Beckham also wear bracelets, to name a few.
I think a guy can wear a bracelet, if it is masculine looking. Ladies can wear the thin bangles. Men need a more substantial piece. I found a great looking silver dragon bracelet from Thailand on the Novica web site, and it suits my personality. It's heavy, and has a look like dragon-scales. Very cool.
As far as the "gay looking" trends that men are exhibiting these days, my number one pet peeve is the deep-vee t-shirt that the Hipsters wear. Deep V-neck shirts belong on women because they show off cleavage nicely. On guys that looks so stupid. My number two pet peeve is guys wearing their pants saggy, like the gangsta look. Nothing is gayer than looking at another dude's arse. Brother, pull up your pants! Considering those two fashion faux pas, a bracelet is low on the effeminate-clothing scale for sure.

I think that decent watches and masculine bracelets on a man's dark, man-haired arm (not ape hair, just typical man hair) is sexy. I like plain metal like tungsten, silver or gunmetal as far as metal goes, but for casual wear I really like a leather one - not a string one, but not exactly cuff size either. I like dark tan/brown and distressed looks rather than dark brown or black. It can't look too new or fancy, either. I got my husband a gorgeous Movado watch in gunmetal and it looks very nice. So go for it!

Nothing wrong with men's bracelets generally speaking, just don't wear some showy jewelry. A platinum bracelet or gold bracelet might make you look to flashy. When it comes to more simple bracelets then it depends: If you are a masculine guy then a men's bracelet would probably add to your rugged appearance, but if you don't consider yourself such a guy, then I would suspect that your bracelet would add some, maybe unwanted, feminine schick to your appearance. You can find a unique manly collection at www.zoara.com/jewelry/bracelets/men

In this girl's opinion, men's bracelets are definitely lame. The only jewelry I like to see on a man is a watch and a wedding ring. Call me traditional, but I think bracelets should be left for the ladies. Men's bracelets just seem totally unnecessary to me. In terms of men's jewelry in general, I say less is more! If you insist on wearing jewelry, I would suggest a subtle white gold chain necklace instead of a bracelet because it is understated. Bracelets are the most feminine accessory you could possibly choose. If it were up to me, men's bracelets would be banned! Of course, ultimately, it's all a matter of your personal style and taste. If you like wearing men's bracelets, then why should my opinion matter?

Men's jewelry can look quite classy. For bracelets, it all depends on the style, design, color and shape of the bracelet. For instance, yellow gold chunky chain bracelets may look a little too flashy while small linked platinum or titanium bracelets are elegant. Also, men's bracelets embedded with a large amount of diamonds and/or colorful gemstones are flamboyant and gaudy. On the other hand, plain banded men's bracelets or bracelets set with a small amount of precious gemstones are a little more modest. Choose your bracelets and accessories wisely and be careful not to overdo it.

I don't have nothing special against men wearing bracelets, but in my humble opinion, bracelets look nice on ladies, and aren't very complimenting guys. Sorry, you don't have to change your style if you enjoy wearing men bracelets, but as a lady I can tell you they are not the most manly item in the world...
