I know my husband needs a watch. The trouble is I want to surprise him and I'm not sure which type of watch he would like. Any suggestions about men's watches?

He's got pretty minimalistic tastes. He doesn't wear any jewelry at all and hates men's jewellery altogether, so I want to get him something bare-bones and simple but super high quality.

The type of watch you get for your husband really depends on his personality, as well as his occupation. If your husband is part of the corporate world, then perhaps the men's watches that would be most appropriate are the kind that would suit his business attire. Most likely, a sleek, clean-cut designer watch without too many details and clear readability would make the perfect fit for this kind of guy. A no nonsense leather band or a band made of precious metals also provides a serious, business look while looking fashionable as well. A water resistant watch is always a good idea too, just in case some water splashes on the watch, it will still work properly. If your partner is a cosmopolitan kind of guy who travels frequently on business, then men's watches with more than one time zone are sure to prove very useful. That way he will know what time it is at home and at the country where he's visiting. A cosmopolitan man is also most likely stylish so it might be a good idea to check out fashion forward men's watches. If your husband plays sports and leads an active lifestyle then he will need a watch that goes right along with it. Sporty men's watches with stop watches or chronographs are great for sports fans. That way he can time himself or even a live sporting event with his watch. Nonetheless, it should have an air of sophistication as well, just in case he wants to wear it in the evenings too. Perhaps a stainless steel band would bring out the masculinity of the watch while making it a comfortable fit. Also if the watch face is made up of mineral crystal glass then it will be more scratch resistant. It would also be wise to get him one of the many water resistant men's watches available out there. If your spouse is a deep sea type of guy that loves to go to the beach, the pool or do anything else in the water then you need to find men's watches that will support those needs. Most importantly the watch you choose for him should be water proof with a depth rating of at least 4000 feet. He might also like it if the design were inspired by the sea. In addition, sub-dials for a stop watch and seconds would be functional for him too.
