What does a Swiss movement watch mean?

My watch has the phrase "Swiss Movement" stamped on the back. What does this refer to?

It simply means your watch was made in Switzerland. The Swiss are notorious for making excellent watches with the most precise movement. Its actually a law in Switzerland that in order to stamp Swiss movement or made in Switzerland on watches the movement of the watch has to be Swiss, the movement of the watch has been cased in Switzerland and the final inspection of the watch was done in Switzerland. Geez! So many rules. But in fact, watches made in Switzerland are the best. I've seen both women's watches and men's watches in a number of designs some adorned with diamonds and other precious stones. All of my watches have Swiss movement and I've never had any troubles with them.
