I've heard this name thrown around in connection with designer jewelry, but I'd like to know some details about the jewelry he designs, where he's based, etc. Can anyone help me out?

Taher Chemirik is an African-born Paris-based jewelry designer. He describes his family background as being non-conventional, and he quickly developed a taste for cutting edge, novel art. Taher studied art in Paris and his work has already become so well known that the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris has already acquired a number of his pieces to be bart of their permanent collection. He has worked with a number of big name designers and describes his inspiration as stemming from his African routes. He adds to these african motifs hints of Asian aesthetic, modern art, antique style and Parisian fleamarket bohemian chic. When he throws all of this together, the final product comes out as a unique, masterfully crafted piece of hand-made designer jewelry. You'll find that many of his pieces feature large, or over sized chains or links. Many of his necklaces feature large, exaggerated links that are clean, crisp in line and beautifully made. His rings are a bit more exotic and he frequently uses natural materials such as wood and coral. The surprising thing about the style of his jewelry is that it is big, over-sized, sometimes exaggerated and very nature-inspired, and yet, the lines are extremely clean, the look is very tidy and the decorations are tight.
