Putting items on dog doesn't mean that the dog can be responsible for them. Jewelry care is not a function dogs perform very well, to say the least... When it comes to expensive jewelry your risking in having it ruined or lost by your mischievous pet and it is best that you only buy dog jewelry which doesn't stand out too much and can be secured and efficiently attached to the dog. You also need to keep the jewelry from reaching the dog's mouth. Here I'm not only warning you from having the jewelry ruined, but also from your dog eating something which could be very harmful to its health. When you select your dog's jewelry keep this point in mind.

Unlike what some proud dog owner think, a dog doesn't know what jewelry is and doesn't treat dog jewelry like we treat human jewelry. I'm not saying that dogs hate jewelry, they might enjoy the special attention given to them by their owners in the form of dog jewelry. Still, sometimes jewelry might feel uncomfortable and annoying to a dog, and before we know it, the jewelry that our dog proudly "wore" becomes very unsuitable. some dogs play around with their "jewelry" with the inevitable result of breaking the jewelry into pieces. There's nothing wrong in dog jewelry as long as you remember that a dog is a dog, not a person and every sentiment you think the dog might have towards jewelry is only a projection of your own approach, and as I mentioned above, perhaps a short moment in which the dog enjoys the loving attention of the people around it.
