I heard from my friend that there is a serious market for couture dog and cat jewelry. Is this true? Who actually buys this stuff?

You might be surprised, but cat and dog couture jewelry has a massive market. There are lots of people out there who want to dress their pets in style and the couture pet-jewelry is exactly up their alley. Sometimes the pieces are kitsch, but many times they are actually classy, simple and personalized. The market is so strong that there are all different kinds of jewelry out there. Most pieces are collars that look like bracelets. There are some that are all precious metal and beads, others that incorporate fabrics and cloths, some that are woven and adorned with charms, and others that have an element of ironic trendiness. Because pets don't really know what jewelry is and are prone to gnawing, gnashing and scratching their designer collars, most pet pieces are made with fake pearls, diamonds and metals. It's rare to find pet jewelry made of fine, high quality materials unless it is custom made in exclusive boutiques. I really don't have much of an opinion on the topic since I'm not much of a pet person, but i guess, as long as its safe, why not take the opportunity to beautify your dog/cat and their collar/leash. If they really are an extension of your person or personality, then you may as well dress them like you.

Yes, it really is true, and dressy pet accessories today come in all different styles. A lot is really elegant, though some is a bit over the top, like diamond and emerald studded tiaras for dogs. That's taking it a bit too far in my opinion, but yes, there is definitely a wide range of pet contour today. I bought my friend a pearl studded collar for her dog. I love it and so did she, it's classic and not over done. No different in terms of style and elegance than anything I would buy for myself or my friends.
