I know that engagement rings and wedding rings are usually worn on a specific finger: the left hand ring finger, if I'm not mistaken. Are these rings supposed to be replaced by the divorce ring when you get divorced?

A divorce ring is not like a wedding ring or an engagement ring in the sense that it hasn't been around for that long. A divorce ring is a fairly new concept, invented only in 2001. As such, there is no unanimous agreement about the way it should be worn. So in reality, you could wear it on any finger you want. Some wear it on the third finger on their right hand, as contrast to the wedding ring which is worn on the left hand. Others wear it on their middle finger, as a suggestive send-off to their exes, which I personally find quite amusing. As a matter of fact, the guy who invented the Divorce Rings (Harold Thompson) wears his divorce ring on the middle finger as well. But if you and your husband split up on good terms, there's no reason to do so. Bottom line: just do whatever feels right for you.

From what I understand, the engagement ring and wedding ring are still supposed to come off of that left hand ring finger when you are divorced and aren't to be replaced with anything till you are remarried. The divorce ring is usually worn on your right hand. This is so that no one accidentally makes the mistake of thinking that you are married. It also prevents any weirdness if and when you do get remarried and you still feel attached to your divorce ring on that finger. That would be totally awkward and equally strange. However, because the divorce ring is still a pretty new jewelry item, and because many people still aren't aware of the fact that the divorce ring even exists, I would imagine that the rules about wearing them are quite flexible.
