I've seen a lot of diamond tattoos lately and I was wondering what they stand for? If you want to wear diamonds, why not wear diamond jewelry?

As with any tattoo, diamond tattoos have different meanings to different people. Diamond tattoos are a way of imprinting diamonds on the body forever, unlike jewelry which is removable, a diamond tattoo is an even bolder fashion statement if you will. Since diamonds are the toughest substance known to man, diamond tattoos usually symbolize the endurance of the wearer. In addition, diamonds can signify an element of beauty found in nature, love everlasting, a wish for a luxurious standard of living. Diamonds are also the birthstone for the month of April so they are a popular choice for those whose astrological sign is Aries. Furthermore, anyone that knows about diamonds is aware of the 4 C's (clarity, cut, color, carat). Due to the quality of clarity found in diamonds, a diamond tattoo could represent pureness. Another way to decipher the meaning of a diamond tattoo is to take a look at the other elements in the tattoo. Are there flowers in the tattoo? If so, diamonds and flowers together most likely stand for beauty. Diamond tattoos with names and dates can also provide clues to their meanings. If the tattoo is of a diamond ring than it is probably a kind of engagement ring or a wedding ring between the wearer and his or her spouse, like Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee's wedding rings (once they divorced, Pamela had her "Tommy" wedding ring tattoo modified to read "Mommy"). Diamond rings aren't the only kind of diamond tattoo jewelry that people choose to imprint on their bodies though, sometimes tattoos are used to create a diamond anklet or bracelet that never comes off.
