I have this really cool owl shaped pin that used to belong to my grandmother. I'd like to wear it, but as a man, how can I get away with wearing a pin without looking too dandy?

The owl on the pin has a body made of black onyx and diamonds set in both eyes. The pin itself is made from solid gold.

The pin sounds cool, your description makes it sound retro. I would love to own a vintage piece of jewelry like your owl pin. That's why I see no reason why you should feel uncomfortable wearing the pin. Beautiful jewelry should be worn proudly and in plain sight. If you're concerned the pin is a little too much, then I suggest you avoid wearing any other jewelry items while wearing the pin. If you're still not convinced you should wear the pin then perhaps you could give it to someone who will wear and enjoy the gold set jewelry piece. Perhaps a wife, daughter or a close personal friend.

Why don't you pin it to a checkered burberry style scarf? Men is scarves are super swanky, and pinning a slick diamond set pin to hold your scarf sounds hot. But anyway, metrosexual is in! You can wear the diamond set pin however you like.

I have an idea, why don't you get the gold pin with the diamond and onyx owl exactly replicated, and turn the two pieces into cuff links. Cuff links are so sexy!! And they would be completely one of a kind too. I don't think it would be a problem to get a piece similar to the one you already own custom made by a professional jeweler, and there is nothing girly about cuff links.

Wear it however you like! This is the 21st century and gender distinctions are a thing of the past. If you like the gold and diamond set pin, I say pin it anywhere you like. The lapel of your shirt (depending on how big it is), or to your chest, to your tie, or even a bag. If you like the pin, what do you care what people think?

I think it is really sweet that you want to wear your grandmother's pin, and the diamond set pin doesn't sound too girly at all. Why don't you use it as a tie pin - to pin your tie to your shirt when you are wearing a button down shirt and tie. I think that keeps you clear of looking too feminine, because nothing shouts 'masculine' like a suave suit and tie.

If you wear your diamond and onyx pin on a suit to a wedding, it will look fantastic and it certainly won't look dandy.

I would have to disagree will all these folks. Wearing a diamond and onyx set gold pin, no matter what animal it's in the shape of, sounds totally gay to me. Just take that into consideration, you know. If you don't care, then do whatever you like. Just be aware of the impression wearing a diamond pin as a man will probably make on whoever sees you.
