Why rough diamond jewelry?

What I mean is, I've been seeing a lot of celebrities wearing rough diamond jewelry. What's so special about rough diamond jewelry? Why should I buy rough diamond jewelry?

Because rough diamonds are absolutely gorgeous!! Rough diamond jewelry is definitely one of a kind. I just love the way rough diamonds look. I don't agree at all with the misconception that they look like plain stones or gravel. To me, a rough diamond is just as stunning as a polished diamond,!

Rough diamond jewelry has been gaining in popularity, mainly because rough diamonds are considered to be eco-friendly, which has become a very central issue in the last couple of years. People tend to believe that rough diamonds are more 'green' than polished diamonds. Rough diamonds may look more natural, but they are not necessarily 'greener'. Rough diamond are converted into polished diamond in a process that in no way damages the environment (rough diamonds are polished using a special saw that is coated with diamonds dust). Not to mention that rough diamonds are mined the same way as polished diamonds (since rough diamonds are the precursor s for polished diamonds). Another reason for rough diamond jewelry becoming increasingly popular is its relative affordability. Naturally, it is easier to produce rough diamonds than polished diamonds since the cutting and polishing process costs extra. By buying unpolished diamonds, the consumer cuts the cost of the cutting and polishing process. Also, if you're interested in buying a diamond with a high carat weight, and just can't afford a large, polished diamond, then a rough diamond would be a great alternative. High carat, polished diamonds are exceedingly rare, and as such, are very expensive, while high carat, rough diamonds are more abundant because they are left in their natural size, and are not cut down like polished diamonds.

There are drawbacks when it comes to rough diamonds. For instance, rough diamonds are not cut. Therefore, if you're looking for fancy shaped diamonds (diamonds shaped like stars, hearts, dolphins, etc.) then rough diamonds are not for you. In addition, since rough diamonds are covered with natural grain and rough material, their brilliance, or sparkle, is relatively subdued. If you're looking for a sparkly, glitzy diamond then your best option would be a polished diamond rather than a rough one. Much like their brilliance, rough diamonds have a muted hue. If it's fancy colored diamonds you want then a rough diamond will not meet your expectations.
