Would you recommend buying a rough diamond for a child?

I have a young child at home and wanted to buy her jewelry. Do you think I should buy her a rough diamond?

I wouldn't recommend it. I mean, what can a kid possibly do with a rough diamond? This isn't a toy, it's a piece of jewelry! Kids don't have much use for jewelry generally speaking, and definitely not diamonds.

I think rough diamonds are better for kids than polished diamonds, which I definitely wouldn't recommend buying. Kids might think of them as gems or stones and might take good care of them. I think they might also appreciate the imperfection of these stones as opposed to polished diamonds, which are definitely more for grown-ups in my opition.

I think if you find a light-weight rough diamond, then it's OK. I'm not sure if I would ordinarily buy a diamond for a kid, since they may get lost but if you aren't concerned about the child losing the gem or it breaking, then I guess it would be ok.

I don't think that I'd necessarily recommend rough diamond jewelry for children. I think that rough diamond jewelry has a certain rustic aesthetic to it, and that rough diamond jewelry is usually designed to look a little bolder, and maybe a little more grown up than jewelry set with polished diamonds, which is made in a huge variety of designs and styles. Maybe you should just stick to classical, polished diamond jewelry. (Also, I think you'd be very hard pressed to find children's jewelry set with rough diamonds…)

Definitely! I mean, rough diamonds are totally in right now. Have you seen how many celebrities are sporting them? Afterall, don't kids look up to celebrities? I think your kid would totally want to imitate Kate Hudson or Jennifer Aniston, in which case I say go for it.
