How much do rough diamonds cost?

I'm interested in buying a rough diamond, but I don't know anything about cost of purchasing. Can anyone give me a rough estimate?

Hmm... I'm not sure. I think it depends on the quality of the rough diamond and the carot size. There may be other factors to take into account. However, I heard that it can cost anywhere between $100 - $500. Maybe a little more, maybe a little less. But that's probably ballpark. Oh, and I'm assuming the shape of the rough diamond (i.e., octahedral vs dodecahedron) and whether there are any inclusions in the diamond, could influence the cost. As far as the color... if some colors are rarer than others (like yellow versus orange?), I assume it could have a cost effect. Why don't you go to a jeweler and find out?

I heard that they're relatively inexpensive so if you're thinking about buying a diamond, maybe you should consider it. Under $500 sounds about right. Especially since they aren't as rare as the polished ones.

Probably less than polished diamonds, that's for sure. They aren't as rare as polished diamonds, so their price probably reflects that. Although I think that if rough diamonds gain popularity, their prices go up. Better to buy them now before the trend sets in. You may not be able to afford them later!
