I want to add another few diamonds to my engagement ring, but I want to know if its worth it to get synthetic diamonds?

While technically synthetic diamonds are the same thing as naturally occurring diamonds the value of synthetic diamonds is much less. If you are looking for an investment, I would stick with natural diamonds for your diamond engagement ring. Synthetic diamonds are just as beautiful and in terms of make-up they are exactly the same thing, you just aren't waiting the 3 to 4 million years it takes to make a real diamond. No, for a real investment and for better value, natural diamonds are best.

Actually, the value of a synthetic diamond is not ridiculously lower than that of a naturally occurring diamond. Sure, it's not as valuable, but it's nowhere near as low as say, cubic zirconia. You can find synthetic diamonds up to 30% less expensive than naturally occurring diamonds, which is significant, but there are also synthetic diamonds only 15% less valuable than their natural counterparts. This is significant as far as saving money is concerned, but it really doesn't mean the gemstone is of low value. And synthetic diamonds are becoming more and more popular as mind diamonds are becoming more scarce, plus more and more people are selecting synthetic diamonds for purely environmental and social reasons. This includes famous wealthy celebrities who can no doubt afford the real deal. The risk of purchasing a blood-diamond, and the environmental damage are making it uncool to buy natural diamonds among certain social circles, and this trend seems to be growing. So I wouldn't dismiss the idea of investing in synthetic diamonds so quickly, actually.
