I have seen so much cubic zirconia recently. why is it all of a sudden to popular?

Who said that CZ is popular? I will always think that cubic zirconium is a cheap and tacky rip off of a real precious natural phenomenon: the diamond. Only those who know nothing about diamonds could say that cubic zirconia is popular and worthwhile as a purchase. I say, save your money for the real thing and don't sell out for some cheap imitation.

Well, it seems to me that CZ has become more popular with the refinement of jewelry manufacturing technology. The better our technology has become, the more average consumers can get their hands on affordable CZ that really looks like diamond. Many people think to themselves that its silly to spend so much money on diamond jewelry when cubic zirconia jewelry looks exactly the same. In fact, many people still shell out the cash for real gold and platinum settings to compliment their cubic zirconia gemstone. Many say that this really makes CZ jewelry look its best. Another reason that Cubic Zirconia has become so popular is that it's a fun, easy way for regular people to feel like they are dressed like stars. In fact, the moment a celebrity walks onto the red-carpet with amazing diamond bracelets, diamond necklaces and diamond earrings adorning them, it doesn't take long for a knock off version of their accessories to find their way to the jewelry shelves - diamonds replaced with CZ.

Cubic zirconia is popular because it is flashy and cheap. It looks good and people are starting to realize that diamonds are way over priced. In this time of recession, with hip hop jewelry and fine bling being so popular, it's no wonder people are flocking to the stores to buy faux diamonds. Plus, it's nearly impossible to tell diamonds and CZ apart.

I'm gonna say that the reason why it's so popular is because exactly that... it's inexpensive and has many of the same qualities as diamonds as far as aesthetics or appearance go. It is definitely fun to wear because you can buy so much of it and mix and match... and buy a lot or a little. I know that to occasions such as proms, girls wear it out if they can't afford diamonds. It makes sense since they want to glammy it up and their parents might not be able to afford to buy them real diamonds.

It's probably popular because it it's so inexpensive and actually looks like diamonds. It makes sense that people would be interested in purhcasing something that looks so much like diamonds and is affordable. It's easy to find, like the user said above, jewelry that resembles jewelry worn by celebs... or jewelry that would otherwise be unaffordable.
