Do cubic zirconia "diamonds" come in different cuts and shapes?
October 19, 2010
You could probably get the more generic cuts but I think you'd be hard pressed to find cubic zirconia in fancy diamond cuts (cuts such as hearts, stars, butterflies, etc.) The reason being that cubic zirconias are thought to be inferior to diamonds since they are artificially made and since they lack the traits of a diamond. For instance, cubic zirconia are generally less durable than a diamond, since these synthetic gemstones are easier to scratch, crack or even break, not to mention that they will never exhibit the same fire and brilliance that a diamond would. Consequently, there aren't many jewelers who would have the time or the patience to cut a cubic zirconia into a fancy shape. Not to mention that cutting gemstones into fancy shapes can be an expensive process since these cuts are more complex and require miraculous craftsmanship to be properly and proportionately fashioned. If you have your heart set on a fancy cut cubic zirconia then I suppose you could always have your jeweler custom make you one, however, custom ordering jewelry could cost you extra and since you mentioned that you're on a budget you'd do best to stick with the more common gemstone cuts.

Hmm... i'm not sure. they probably don't. but you know what, you should consider it anyway. because for better or worse, you'll be wearing something affordable that looks just like a diamond. i think you should consider it. just because it doesn't come in the same shapes as diamonds, doesn't mean you shouldn't think about getting it. i personally think that the simplest diamond shapes are the prettiest.

Right. CZ is definitely less durable than a diamond so it's probably more difficult to find it in different shapes and cuts. Especially since the process of cutting it can be complicated. I really don't know otherwise if it's possible to find different shapes and cuts of the CZ. Look it up online? Have you tried that? You can find a lot of useful information about cutting diamonds and the CZ... the difference between the processes of cutting, etc. Or you can look in various brochures. I'm not sure where else to find that kind of information but i am pretty sure it's out there.

I think cubic zirconia is a great alternative to diamonds.Yes, you can get any cut of a cubic zirconia diamond - it all depends on what your preferences are. You can get all the same cuts that diamonds come in - princess, emerald, oval, round, heart, pear and the list goes on. Many of these loose stones look exactly like diamonds.
