I know traditional diamond engagement rings are clear, but isn't the 21st century all about breaking conventions? My girl is pretty open minded and she wears a lot of colorful clothes and scarves and stuff, so I know she's into colors. I like the way colored diamonds look, but are they considered to be at the bottom of the diamond barrel? I don't want to end up in the dog house if i get my girl a colored diamond engagement ring..

Inferior? No way! Fancy colored diamonds are far rarer and more expensive than regular clear diamonds - which are in fact relatively common. The most expensive diamonds in the world are all fancy colored diamonds – deep pink, blue and red ones being the rarest and most sought after of all diamonds. Plus, fancy colored diamonds are totally all the rage right now! I wouldn't go so far as to say that clear diamonds are passe, but aren't they a bit... conservative compared to all the vibrant colors available for diamonds?

I personally think that colored diamond engagement rings are super cool. They aren't boring and banal like most engagement rings- they are striking and unique. Moreover they are actually stylish- as confirmed by the numerous celebrities who are showing off fancy colored engagement rings and other jewelry. Jennifer Lopez' pink diamond engagement ring given to her by ben affleck is only one example of a gorgeous colored diamond engagement ring.

Have you seen Jennifer Lopez's huge fancy colored pink diamond engagement ring? It's incredible! Fancy colored diamonds are in no way inferior to colorless diamonds. In fact, there are fancy colored diamonds which are valued at higher than regular, colorless diamonds. For instance, certain fancy colored diamonds are rarer than colorless diamonds (for example, fancy red diamonds and fancy blue diamonds are considered especially rare and highly sought after). Also, intensely colored diamonds are very hard to come by. The more vivid the color the higher the value of the diamond will be.
In my opinion, fancy colored diamond engagement rings are incredibly stunning and unique, as well as highly valuable. I don't think any woman would be disappointed to get a beautiful fancy colored diamond engagement ring!

I think colored diamond engagement rings are just gorgeous, but I prefer the more faintly colored diamonds than vividly colored diamonds which I find to be a bit on the gaudy side, and I think you would get sick of them after a while. Intensely colored jewelry isn't as appropriate for everyday wear because it doesn't match a lot of things. Light blue diamond engagement rings are just stunning, plus delicate and elegant enough for everyday wear.

Personally, I think that fancy colored diamond engagement rings are beautiful and even superior to clear colored diamonds, or colorless diamonds. I think the rarity of fancy colored diamonds makes them even more special. Fancy colored diamonds also add a little spice to the traditional colorless diamond engagement ring that's been around for thousands of years. Fancy colored diamond engagement rings are still traditional because they're still diamonds; they're just a more modern interpretation of the classic engagement ring.
When shopping for a fancy colored diamond engagement ring it's important to make sure that the ring design doesn't grab all the attention, but rather the fancy colored diamond itself should take center stage. I would recommend that you opt for a prong diamond setting for your engagement ring, as this type of setting lends more light to reflect the unique color of the fancy colored diamond. If you are considering adding additional diamonds to your engagement ring, be careful not to crowd the fancy colored diamond – give it room to shine. Regarding the metal band of the engagement ring, I would suggest a subtle color so as not to clash with the color of the fancy colored diamond. White gold is a great option because it is both durable and neutral.

Colored diamond engagement rings can add an interesting twist to the traditional ring, making them more unique and eye-catching. If the gems are fancy colored diamonds they are in no way inferior to clear colored diamonds. In some cases fancy colored diamonds may even be more expensive than colorless diamonds because of their rarity.
