I heard that diamonds are supposed to have mythical and "supernatural" powers like bestowing good luck and giving strength to its wearer. I was wondering if anyone knows any specific stories or has information on this.

Due to the fact that diamonds are the hardest substance known to man, the most prominent metaphysical properties that were attributed to diamonds were fortitude and strength. Back in history, it was believed that wearing a diamond would bring victory and good fortune when entering battle. However, another important metaphysical property diamonds were credited for throughout history was promoting constancy and happiness in a marriage. Maybe that's the reason why it is considered to be such a significant symbol for engagement and marriage today.
