Do diamonds have any medicinal properties?

I know that in ancient times diamonds were believed to heal sicknesses, but is this just a folk remedy or is there any truth to the healing properties of diamonds?

Actually, diamonds do contribute to modern medicine and they could be considered to have healing properties. Furthermore, plenty of medical research teams are continuing to explore the unique properties of diamonds to figure out whether diamonds may have more useful applications in the medical field. For example, diamonds are used in the treatment of cancer and malignant tumors, and the administration of chemotherapy: during chemotherapy, a patch infused with diamond particles is placed over the location of the tumor, and the molecular structure of the diamond enables the slow release of chemotherapy drugs directly into the tumor, which should divert some of the negative side effects of chemotherapy. Also, scientists have discovered that diamond nanocrystals can be used as miniscule microscopes to see single atoms, and may enable an examination of life at an atomic level that has never been achieved before. Another potential useful application of diamonds is as a tiny storage space for computer information to make computers that are stronger and faster than the ones that we are familiar with today. Since diamonds have a very unique structure and molecular properties, it makes sense that they should contribute to science and technology in highly advanced and unique ways. So the medicinal properties of diamonds have nothing to do with superstition or supernatural powers, but pure and unadulterated physics.

I don't know how beneficial diamonds are physically, but mental and emotional well being clearly effects physical health, everybody knows that by now, so it's pretty clear that getting a beautiful diamond ring for Christmas is gonna have some sort of positive effect on anyone's health :)

Since diamonds were first discovered in India thousands of years ago, high quality diamonds were believed to have curing properties that could heal everything from insanity to bladder infections and as an antidote for poisons. Poor quality diamonds were thought however to lead to severe health complications such as leprosy, lameness or jaundice. However, these remedies are probably just superstition and diamonds have the most value as decorative rather than healing stones.
