Silver Diamonds for sale?

I heard that a diamond company called Rio Tinto is planning to launch a new line of Silver colored diamonds. Is this true? Can you please tell me about this company and elaborate on these new silver diamonds? Will they be offered for the public for sale? How expensive will they be?

It is supposed to happen quite soon actually. Rio Tinto is planning to launch a new line, called Silvermist, colored diamonds in a color range from gray to silvery. The plan is to make them rather affordable to diamond consumers. I don't really know what prices they consider as affordable, but let's hope they truly intend to make these silver diamonds worth our while. Anyway, you should expect to pay more for a "Silvermist" diamond that a "Champagne" diamond, since polishing the former requires more professional craftsmanship. A few weeks ago there was an even in NYC, in which Rio Tinto has stated its intentions and exhibited two silver diamonds, embedded in a nice pair of diamond earrings, along with other colorless diamonds. The earrings design showen that besides nice diamond Rio Tinto has style.

Rebecca Foerster, the company's Vice President seems very optimistic concerning the future sales of the new "Silvermist" diamonds. She claims that several diamond chain stores and specialty jewelrs have already purchased many "Silvermist" diamonds and are offering them for sales. As far as I know, Interjewel is a company which is indeed designing jewelry with the new silver diamonds. Concerning other companies offering silver diamond jewelry we'll just have to wait and see.

If you want to know more about Rio Tinto, I can tell you that it is a multinational mining company, that mines many types of natural resources, including diamonds of course. The company's headquarters are in Melbourne and London. The name Rio Tinto was adapted by the company, since Rio Tinto is a river in Spain in which one of the first mines that the company owned was located, back in the end of the 19th century.
