Are colored diamonds dangerous?

I'm really worried...I bought a pink colored diamond, and now I'm worried that it's dangerous because I found out that the way they color diamonds like that is by radiating them. Does my diamond have radiation? Am I going to get sick from wearing it?

No no no. I mean, there used to be some issues with this subject...and these days there are still some situations in which irradiated diamonds come from other countries with higher levels of radiation than are actually safe. But you don't have to worry about this kind of thing, because customs pretty much always keeps these diamonds from landing on the market, and these days when jewelers in the United States and other places where diamonds are colored according to certain rules, the level of radiation used is low and the diamonds are colored in a way that prevents them from being a danger to those who handle and wear them. So just enjoy that pretty pink diamond, and don't worry about this any more!

The only danger I know of with owning a pink diamond is that you'll be mugged for it, or someone might break into your house to steal it....

I can tell you that brown diamonds are definitely not dangerous. There's supposedly been a lot of scientific research spent trying to understand the origin of the coloring and mostly what's come up is nickel impurities. Nothing that would cause harm. You really have nothing to worry about. A little coloration wouldn't hurt you.
