Generally speaking, anything between 54-57% is a truely ideal proportion for the table of a round diamond.
This doesn't necessairily apply to all carat weights, as for very small diamonds under 0.10 ctw, larger table sizes are recommended.
The proportions also depend on what you truely want : diamonds with a larger table size are generally brighter, but on the other hand, diamonds with a smaller table generally have more fire.
What is also important to note is that larger table sizes reduce the price of the diamond, which can also allow you to buy great value for less money!
