No liquid....only gas! Should you heat a diamond (crystallized carbon) to a temperature of 850 Degrees Celsius, (850 ºC = 1562 ºF) a chemical reaction takes place. Every carbon atom (C) will attract two oxygen atoms (O) that means (C+O2 =CO2) it turned in to carbon dioxide it became a gas form. This process is known as BURNING! (Yeah...right...the temperature of the sun...Oh Brother!)

Yes, a diamond can definitely become a liquid, however, once this takes place the diamond cease to exist, it is no longer considered to be a diamond. Diamonds are created from carbon which changes from a gas to become crystallized carbon over hundreds of thousands of years. It is this form of carbon that makes a diamond a diamond; otherwise it is simply carbon in a gas or liquid form.
If you want to melt your diamond, however, you will need to heat it to 3280 Kelvin, which is almost as hot as the sun. Diamonds require such a high heat to melt because of the strength or their formation; the bonds between molecules are extremely strong and thus very difficult to break.
