I'm engaged and my fiancé and I want to get our wedding rings engraved. Any ideas?

We want the inscription on our wedding rings to be meaningful and personalized, but not too tacky.

My husband and I have the latin inscription "Amor Vincent Omnia" in our rings, which means "love conquers all". I like it because most people don't understand what it means so it feels like a secret message between me and my husband. There are lots of other latin phrases that can be appropriate too, like "semper amemus" which means "love always" or "Semper Fidelis" which means "always faithful", or get a latin-english dictionary and make up your own.

Don't worry too much about what you want to engrave into your wedding bands. Engravings can always be changed or buffed out if, at some point, you change your mind about your engraving. If you suddenly decide on a different engraving then the one you have, you could always take your wedding band to your jeweler and have him buff out the old inscription, and replace it with your new chosen engraving. If, for some reason, your jeweler is unable to buff out your previous engraving, then he could always electroplate your wedding band with an additional thin layer of precious metal. The new layer will effectively cover the old inscription, and you will then be able to re-inscribe your band. Buffing out engraving and/or electroplating your wedding band aren't expensive processes so there is really no apparent reason why you couldn't re-engrave your wedding band.

Engraving your wedding band or your engagement ring is a great idea in my opinion. There's nothing more sentimental than a personalized wedding band or engagement ring. What you engrave on your wedding band should not only be meaningful to the two of you, but should also reflect your identity as a couple. For instance, if you see yourself as a young and edgy couple perhaps you could choose lyrics from a favorite rock song, and engrave them into your bands. If you're a little more traditional, you could engrave your names and your wedding date on the band, or you could engrave a few meaningful words onto your wedding band. You could also incorporate you and your partner's birthstones into your wedding band for an added touch of sentimentality. Remember that your wedding band is jewelry you'll always keep, jewelry which you may wear forever, so I would put some serious thought into what should be engraved into the band.

When it comes to wedding wing engraving, I recommended checking the lyrics of songs that you both like or that have been meaningful in your relationship. That way you get a nice poetic and original line that means something particular to both of you. One really nice idea I heard was to have the first part of the lyric on one wedding ring and the end on the other, that way the two wedding rings complete each other.

Wedding bands can be engraved with basically any sort of content. Whether it be the bride and groom's names, the date in which the couple first met or first started dating, the marriage ceremony's date, song verses and lyrics or intimate words and sweet nothings. A romantic idea would be to engrave both of your birthdates into the band and then set it with each other's birthstones. Another possibility is to engrave a portion of your wedding vows into the band (as long as the vows aren't too long, there's only so much space you can work with). Whatever you choose to engrave, make sure it is meaningful and intimate, sincere and passionate.

A few good engraving ideas: Love, honor and cherish; the title of your wedding song; your names and the date of your wedding; Forever; lyrics from your favorite song; affectionate names you have for each other. Congratulations, by the way!
