My 20th anniversary is coming up and I want to buy my wife a diamond ring traditionally set for a 20th anniversary. What style setting should I get?

What kind of material, setting and design would be the most appropriate for a 20th anniversary jewelry item? Should I go for something costly or should I stick with jewelry which is a little more affordable?

A 20th anniversary is also associated with the precious gemstone emerald. Perhaps you could choose a setting which would incorporate both diamonds and emeralds. For instance, you could opt for a prong set diamond center stone, accented by smaller emeralds, channel set into the ring's band. Or perhaps you could forgo the diamond altogether and set your ring with an emerald solitaire center stone.

A 20th anniversary means china, though I wouldn't suggest setting diamonds or any type of precious gemstone into a china setting (I don't even think that would be possible). A more modern spin could be silver-white metals since they mimic the look of the china's white glaze. You could go with a white-gold, platinum, titanium or silver setting for your wife's diamond ring.
