Is there such a thing as a men's anniversary ring? If so, what are the acceptable styles?

I was wondering, my husband and i have our 25th wedding anniversary coming up and I was wondering if it is acceptable to get an anniversary ring for him. If so, what are some good styles? Do they have diamonds? Do they have gemstones at all?

There is definitely such a thing as a men's anniversary ring. I mean, we are living in the 21st century, are we not?! This is the age of total equality for men and women, so why shouldn't you get your husband an engagement ring for your 25th anniversary? I think that it is not only acceptable, it is also a wonderful idea. Think about it- first off, the circle of a ring symbolizes eternity and the whole idea of a wedding ring or an engagement ring is the idea of "binding your significant other" to you. Rings really do this. They are a symbol of connection, eternity and infinite love. After 25 years it is about time you give him something monumental and personal, intimate and elegant.

Now lets get to styles. There are many popular styles for men's anniversary rings out there. The most popular are white gold bands, platinum bands, and titanium bands. Now any of these can be adorned with gemstones, diamonds or inlaid shell.  I'll never forget that my mother bought my father a beautiful native-american styled turquoise inlaid sterling silver ring from New Mexico before their wedding, and after a few years it grew worn and the turquoise chipped.  On their 20th anniversary ,she decided to buy him a new ring, similar in style, but higher quality and more elegant.  She got him a white gold ring, modern in design, inlaid with a few strips of turquoise and adorned with a small round brilliant diamond in the upper right corner of the ring face.  It was gorgeous, and my father loved it.

Another great idea is to engrave something special on the inside of the ring. These are called poesy rings.  Also, think about getting him a two toned gold ring- white and gold ornamentation around the band is another lovely way to sybolize two lovers "made of the same material" who are intertwined, making something beautiful together.  If he is relatively jewelry shy, then you might want to steer clear of heavy titanium bands that can look a bit bulky.

Whatever you do decide, I wish you the best of luck! Take a look at styles that celebrities are wearing online, and you'll be sure to get some good ideas.

Happy anniversary!
