Is it true that ancient Egyptians were buried with pearls?

What were pearls symbolic of in ancient Egyptian times? Why were ancient Egyptian royals buried with their pearl jewelry?

This is a fact. Ancient Egyptians valued pearls so much that placed pearls and shells on the closed eyelids of their dead. They also used pearls in their make-up. All of the eyeliner you see on Egyptians in Egyptian art was made from ground black pearl. Apparently, Cleopatra also bet Mark Antony that she could consume the wealth of an entire people in just one meal, and then dissolved a pearl in wine and drank it, winning the bet.
