What is Keshi pearl set jewelry? Are Keshi pearls natural or cultivated?

I was looking for pearl strands on various jewelry websites when I came across a beautiful pearl strand. The item's description said that the pearls were Keshi pearls. What exactly are Kesih pearls? Are they considered to be valuable? Are they natural pearls or are they cultivated? How are Keshi pearls created?

Keshi pearls are often a by-product of the cultivating process undergone by cultured pearls, thus they are not considered to be natural. Keshi pearls are most commonly found in China, were they are created by a variety of mollusks found in freshwater clams. Although Keshi pearls are somewhat small in size, they are still popularly used in jewelry and are highly sought-after in the international gemstone markets.
