I have the GIA diamond certificate for the diamond, so I know all of its parameters, and I was wondering if there was any list or something where I can look up the market value of my diamond.

Actually, there is! Just this November (2009), IDEX Online came up with a Suggested Retail Price List for Diamonds that is available online. The diamond price list is accessible by the general public, for free! IDEX Online is the International Diamond Exchange, whose headquarters is located in New York in the heart of the city's diamond exchange industry - so it is a highly reliable resource for diamond pricing. So how does the diamond pricing system work? All you have to do is enter the four C's of your loose diamond - which should be written on your GIA diamond certificate, and the IDEX diamond price list will instantaneously calculate the maximum suggested retail value for your diamond based on up to the minute diamond market information. Note that the price is the MAXIMUM suggested retail price for your diamond, and not the average suggested retail price - so it is highly likely that your diamond would sell for less than that price. The new diamond SRP price list will be available in the diamond section of ebay, at diamonds.ebay.com. IDEX online devised the diamond price list upon a request from the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB). The WFDB realized that most consumers shopping for diamonds and diamond engagement rings really had little clue as to the fair retail value of diamonds, and that knowing so little about the diamond market really shook their confidence when it came to laying down thousands of dollars on a diamond ring. The aim of the diamond price list is to boost consumer confidence, and to let consumers compare diamond prices quoted by jewelers and retailers with an official suggested retail value, so that they have better ability to judge the fairness of the prices.
