How do I know what kind of necklaces will compliment my figure?

I know body type can make a big difference in finding the jewelry that suits a woman best. I was wondering – how can I tell which necklaces would be right for me?

I hear ya girlfriend! Selecting jewelry according to body type usually leads to much more flattering results, but it's hard to know where to start. I'll try to give you all the tips I've heard and I hope they help you make the best decisions about which necklaces are right for you. First, I'd like to start with the face and features. Necklaces can draw the eye to every part of a woman's body above the waist, especially to the face, neck, and bust areas. For women with oval faces, as far as I know anything goes! These women can wear long strands of pearls or a delicate V-shaped necklace with a diamond pendant, and either style will probably look lovely. Women with rectangular faces usually look best with jewelry that provides a wider appearance and makes the face look less long. Chokers and U-shaped necklaces detract from a long face and soften an angular face as well. For women with heart-shaped faces, these necklaces can also assist in rounding out a face with a pointy chin. As for women with round faces or those with square faces, long necklaces are the way to go since they serve to provide an illusion of length. Two other major features of jewelry selection according to body type are height and weight. When it comes to these aspects, petite women look great in long necklaces because they accentuate the length of the body, particularly when they dangle near the waist. Tall women look amazing in pearl necklaces and gemstone necklaces, particularly when the gems that make up these necklaces are all the same size. Necklaces that are worn closer to the throat, like chokers, detract attention from the height issue altogether. For curvaceous women, long necklaces are highly recommended because they help call attention to length instead of width. Just make sure to choose long necklaces with large pendants and stones rather than tiny pieces which might be lost on a fuller figure.

It's important to measure your neck before you go shopping for necklaces, otherwise you might wind up purchasing necklaces that don' fit well. Also, always keep in mind that pendants make necklaces look longer. Most jewelry boutiques and online jewelry providers offer necklaces in more or less the same lengths. Collar necklaces are about one foot long. Collar necklaces are meant to fit at the center of a woman's neck. Chokers are shorter than collar necklaces, fitting as close as possible to the neck. Princess necklaces are about eighteen inches long, so they are usually the length used for pendants. Matinee necklaces are about twenty-two inches long, so this length of necklace is usually considered right for both day and eveningwear. Opera necklaces are about thirty inches long so the wearer can easily choose to wear this type of necklace as a choker with two strands. Rope necklaces are more than forty inches long so they definitely aren't for everyone. In general, women with a large bust should stay away from long necklaces like matinee, opera or rope necklaces, because they pull the focus straight towards the bust. In contrast, women with small busts look wonderful with necklaces that are long and thin. For petite women, I would suggest wearing the length of collar necklaces and longer. For curvy women, necklaces that fall in the bust area should be avoided because this length provides a fuller look. Women with round faces should wear long necklaces, while women with heart shaped faces should wear choker length necklaces because they help divert attention from a pointy chin. Women with faces that are more rectangular in shape look great with high chokers since they make their faces appear to not be quite as long.
