I want a really beautiful and unique three-stone setting for my engagement ring, but I can't spend a million bucks :) What should I do?

I just want something beautiful and eye-catching...

What about a single diamond with your birthstones alongside? I have a ring with a diamond in the center and an amethyst on each side. Also, I have a friend who got a particularly gorgeous colored cognac diamond, and put exquisite drops of brilliant amber on either side (that's her birthstone) and set the whole thing in 18K gold. It was so, so pretty and unlike any ring I've ever seen...and it cost so much less than any ring of it's size and beauty would have cost if it were just white diamonds and platinum. I think for those that really love staight-up diamond rings they will have to figure out what to do to be able to afford the ring they love, but for those of us who love really unique and specially designed rings, finding an immeasurably beautiful one (or designing one personally) isn't so hard, and affording it is a lot easier than our straight edged counterparts!

I saw the most beautiful ring set in white-gold with two small white diamonds on the edge of a big caramel colored brown diamond. It's so unique and beautiful, really fashionable because brown diamonds are really in, and it costs a lot less than if you were to get a three stone ring with all white diamonds... plus if you are going for unique, three white diamonds wont impress anyone as unique, just big. Honestly, the ring was so beautiful that even friends of mine who hated the idea of brown diamonds had to admit how amazing it is when they saw the gorgeous picture!
