I understand that the ring you have isn’t sitting comfortably on the base of the finger. In situations where the base of the finger is quite thin relative to the knuckle, there are several options you can consider:
The most affordable option would be to purchase a small plastic ring guard. These are small inserts that are placed between the ring and the finger than bend to fit over the knuckle but expand to fill in the extra space around the base of the finger. These ring guards also come in gold, but aren’t recommended for platinum bands. Plastic and gold ring guards are affordable, but they can be uncomfortable and aren’t the most desirable or permanent solution.
A second option would be to place what are called “sizing beads” into the ring. Two small beads would be placed near the bottom of the ring at approximately 5’oclock and 7’oclock, if you were looking at the ring from a side view. These beads would allow the ring to slide comfortable over the knuckle, but feel snugger at the base of the finger. If your ring is a platinum ring, you would have to get the platinum sizing beads soldered to the ring.
For those with very large knuckles or very thin finger bases, the only real solution is to have the ring fitted with a custom-made hinge so that the ring can be open and secured directly onto the base of the finger without having to slide over the knuckle. These customizations are quite expensive, again, especially in case your ring is made of platinum.

Bottom line - in case of a platinum ring I believe that for 90% of the cases the best and most affordable option would be to have two platinum sizing beads soldered to the ring.
In other cases the more simple solutions are probably best.
