I heard that there is a Middle Eastern Diamond mogul who is partnering up with fashion designers to create the most extravagant diamond studded dress yet. Who is the designer and who is the diamond mogul? Does anyone know what this dress is supposed to look like?

It is actually a Malaysian designer named Faisol Abdullah who topped Chris Aires's $20 million dollar diamond dress with his new iced-out creation that was shown in Malaysia in March of 2008. Abdulla, who was commisioned by Stylo to create this dazzling diamond dress, took his challenge seriously and wanted to create the most luxurious and innovative couture dress design. Abdullah claims that the dress's design was inspired by verses of 14th century Persian poet Hafiz. He called his creation "The Nightingale of Kuala Lumpur." Faisol Abdulla completed the dress in time for the Stylo Fashion festival held in the Malaysian capital called the STYLO Fashion Grand Prix KL. During this fashion festival, the red dress was modeled by actress, Kavita Sidhu. According to various media sources, the dress is an evening gown made of 14 meters of silk, satin and taffeta. It was be adorned with a total of 751 diamonds from the Jordanian diamond retailer and jewler, Mouawad. The dress showcased a 70 carat pear-shaped diamond featured in the center of the dress's bodice that holds the piece together and is estimated, alone, to fetch up to $8 million. The train of the dress also glistened with hundreds of diamonds and Swarovsky crystals. Ms. Sudhu donned a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes, (Jimmy Choo being one of the most successful and well known Malaysian designers) which completed the outfit. The question is, at times like these when the entire global economy is facing a recession, who will have the money to buy such an extravagant product? The chief executive of Stylo, Nancy Yeoh, believes that a couture dress such as this should be considered art. She also mentioned that, despite economic global worries, rich people will always continue to live on and spend their money on extraordinary items such as this.
