What should I know before buying a diamond anklet?

I want to buy my girlfriend a diamond anklet. She loves anklets and I want to surprise her with a really elegant one. Are there any tips I should be aware of concerning purchasing anklets before I spend so much money?

That's real generous of you and I'm sure she'll love it if she's into ankle bracelets in general. I'd say if you've never actually bought your girlfriend an ankle bracelet, you should make sure you know her ankle size before you purchase an expensive piece of jewelry. You really DO NOT want to spend hundreds of dollars on expensive diamond studs and come home to realize that the length is wrong.Usually ankle bracelets are between 9 and 10 inches long, but there are other sizes, and you can usually get your bracelet to be custom made. Good luck!

Well, I don't know if this is exactly what you were asking, but here's a suggestion concerning WHAT to buy your girlfriend. I have a friend of a friend who just got a diamond anklet, and she bought one with her name spelled out on it, and her first capital initial is a bunch of diamond studs. it is STUNNING. So I don't know how much it cost her or what your budget is, but I'm sure there's a wide range of prices out there and the diamond initial is really cool in my opinion, so..consider it :) Oh, and also, make sure she knows the proper way to keep it clean. If she's used to wearing plastic or chain anklets, I guess she wouldn't be aware of how greasy her anklet can get. Diamonds are really delicate so you should study how to keep them properly clean, especially when they are worn in an environment that can sometimes be exposed to grease and sweat.

Like mentioned above, an important tip is knowing how to clean your diamond anklet, as anklets are pieces of jewelry that tend to be closer to sweat and grease than say earrings or pendants. Of course, cleaning a diamond anklet isn't any different than cleaning any other type of diamond jewelry, but it should perhaps be done more frequently. There are several systems, but here's the one I use with all of my diamond jewelry, that I find easy and effective: take a bowl of warm water with a small amount of not-too-strong dish detergent. Then place the diamond in the bowl and brush it gently with a toothbrush. Afterwords rinse off with warm running water and pat with a cloth - very important that it's lint free - until its dry dry. That should do it.
