How to care for rough diamond jewelry?

Last Christmas my boyfriend bought me this amazing rough diamond pendant. I looked online for tips on how to care for my rough diamond jewelry but couldn't really find any answers. Any ideas?

I'm assuming that the reason why there aren't very many tips on how to care for rough diamond jewelry is that rough diamonds don't require a whole lot of care. Sure you would still need to care for the jewelry's setting and for the jewelry's metals but a rough diamond needs no such maintenance. Polished diamonds require constant care so as to ensure that they retain their amazing brilliance and sparkle. Rough diamonds have a muted brilliance since their surface is covered in grain and rough matter. I suppose that that is one of the pluses of buying rough diamond jewelry. It's very easy to maintain. If you insist on cleaning your rough diamond jewelry then here are a few simple suggestions:

1. Soak your rough diamond jewelry in a warm soapy water solution and then clean it off with a dry, soft cloth. (if your jewelry is made out of silver then this is not recommended, as silver can easily oxidize and tarnish if it sits in liquid for too long)

2. Use a soft bristled toothbrush or baby's brush and mild toothpaste to polish off your diamonds.

3. Store your rough diamond jewelry in a hard case or in soft pouches, separate from other pieces of jewelry which may scratch and damage your diamond's surface. Since you want to conserve the beautiful natural grain on your diamonds surface, this storing tip is especially recommended.

4. Have a local jeweler professionally clean your rough diamond jewelry for you. Look online for a jeweler experienced in working with rough diamonds that'd know how to properly treat them.
