I know that they were married, but was this three-stone diamond ring supposed to be an engagement ring or a post-baby ring? I was just under the impression that three-stone rings are usually anniversary rings as opposed to engagement rings. Any clarification would help, thanks.

From what I know, the intention behind the ring giving is unclear. Immediately after Madonna gave birth to their first son, Guy Ritchie went out to buy Madonna this three-stone diamond ring. Richie chose the ring at Niel Lane, a famous luxury jeweler and diamond vendor - frequented by celebrities who are looking for engagement rings, anniversary presents, birthday gifts, and more. It's rumored that Ritchie leaned towards the Edwardian antique ring style because of his English upbringing and his love of ornate detail. When the press caught a glimpse of the ring on her finger, Madonna was said to have played down it's importance. She supposedly called the ring a post-baby gift, as you say. However, only four months after the diamond three-stone ring was seen sparkling on her finger, Madonna and Ritchie walked down the aisle and said their vows. Since then, three-stone rings and antique diamond cuts/antique settings have soared in popularity among the rich and famous.
