I wonder if the recession affects the stars - I guess not! What did J Lo and Rihanna wear, who sparkled most, which desinges stood out and what were the new styles of jewelry compared to previous years?

Let's begin with Rihanna: The beautiful singer wore a gaudy rose cut diamond ring. along with additional colorless and black diamond rings, with bands. A black Marcheasa gown complemented the jewelry she wore perfectly. What about J Lopez? A 5 carat diamond wraparound ring was eye catching enough, but the colorless and black diamond circle earring she wore (designed by Lorraine Schwartz) added the extra sparkle, along with a diamond white gold cuff and a diamond ball ring. You would be surprised, but Lopez's apparel couldn't match the sparkle of Mary J Blige, who enjoyed Schwartz's designes as well, wearing 30 carat diamond encrusted earrings (luckily her ears didn't fall), a snakeskin pront dress and a diamond mesh cuff. Kate Hudson proved that this night isn't only for pop stars and made a good impression with her white gold diamond earrings, white gold pave setting ring and white gold diamond spike braceletes. Carrie Underwood were elongated drop earrings, a gold lame dress and a nice diamond bracelet. Colombian wonder Shakira was rather modest compared to the stars mentioned above, but was still shiny with her diamond bangles and black gold diamond ring (designed by Ofira), while her yellow mini dress caught the attention of every male star in the audience.
What about guys? Well, they drew less attention, but Adam Lambert were nice dark metal rings and Jay-Z didn't lack bling, displaying a gaudy diamond lapel ring.
The jewelry designes worn on the AMA proved to be much more playful and surprising than those we see in more official ceremonies, such as the Oscars. Simmery dresses and huge diamonds was a common sight, and the number of diamonds in the room could match the number of people in the crowd of a Superbowl. Many of the dresses were cutout pieces, adding creativity to this fancy event. Diamond rings worn on the night obviously had nothing to do with marriage or engagement, but still, I don't remember an event in which so many ladies were multiple rings on one hand.
