How do I measure my boyfriend's ring size? Can someone tell me how to measure rings for men?

I want to surprise my boyfriend with a titanium ring for his 30th birthday, but I don't know what his ring size is. In fact, I don't know anything about ring size, especially when it comes to men. I'm also not sure how in the world I can do this discreetly. Can anyone help me?

Same way as you measure ring size for women.... I got my guy's wedding ring off of Zoara.com  and I used their online ring sizer. We used a measuring tape to measure his left ring finger and then compared the length to the sizing chart on the site. It's pretty easy to do....

Measuring your boyfriend's  ring size shouldn't be too difficult to determine- the problem is doing it discreetly.

Just in case you might want to take your boyfriend's ring size in the future without being discreet, let me tell you how you should go about doing that.  Then I'll give you some suggestions about how to take his ring size discreetly.  When measuring a ring size, whether it be for a man, woman, or child, you have a couple of options:

1)The first and most widely recommended method of determining ring size is to go to your local jeweler and have them measure your finger.  They have specific rings that they use which are thought of as being the most exact way to take your ring size.
2)If you aren't interested in going to your jeweler and prefer to measure your finger yourself, many online jewelry websites have ring sizers ; that you can print out at home, cut out, and wrap around your finger in order to get an accurate read of your ring size. If you do do this, make sure that when you print out the paper at 100% so that your sizer isn't distorted.
3) If you don't want to use a paper ring sizer and you don't want to go to your jeweler, you can measure your ring size using a piece of string and an accurate ruler.  Tie the string around your ring finger and then mark it exactly where the ends meet. be careful not to pull the string too tightly since you need to make sure that it is loose enough to fit over your knuckle.
4) Your last option is taking a ring that you already own and bringing it to your jeweler.
IMPORTANT NOTE: always make sure to that your finger is warm whenever you measure your ring size.  In hot weather, when doing any kind of physical activity, etc, fingers swell.  The average size of a finger is when it is a bit above room temperature.  Measuring your finger when it is warm his will ensure that your ring won't be too tight.

Now to attend to your specific problem.  If your boyfriend does wear other rings, the best way to find out his ring size without him knowing is to steal one for a day or two, bring it to your jeweler, size it, and then return it.  If he has a ring that he wears every day, grab it when he takes it off at night or in the shower, pretend like you know nothing about the ring's disappearance when he asks you about it, and then return it the next day.  If your boyfriend doesn't wear other rings, you will have to be more creative.  First try asking his friends and relatives if they have any idea.  Otherwise, you might just need to resort to being either sneaky (measuring his fingers while he's sleeping) or weird.  Here are some weird examples:
1)ask him how much finger he things his fingers are than yours and have him prove to you that yours are skinny by measuring them both and comparing them
2)ask him if he'd ever want to wear brass knuckles, and then tell him you want to make him paper brass knuckles for a costume party.  Then take the opportunity to measure his finger with a string.
3) be playful with him with a string, and discreetly wrap it around his finger.  when you get it done well, run to the bathroom to mark the string so you know his size.
